"Slow down. Calm down. Don't worry. Don't Hurry. Trust the process."
-Alexandra Stoddard
I create sculptures that evoke a loose representation of movement, energy, and human form through the application of texture and patterns. Experimentation plays an essential role in the process. I place a strong emphasis on challenges that arise from altering or improvising throughout the sculpting process as opposed to focusing on precise expectations. In the field of ceramics, nothing is ever certain. An artist can plan accordingly and mostly predict an outcome but something could change at any point in the process. It is important to embrace a sense of detachment, curiosity, and persistence. One must be able to adapt to changes frequently and it is up to the artist if they are inspired through their successes and failures.

The repetition throughout my sculptural work embraces the rhythm of daily studio life and personal tendencies to stimulate a sense of energy and movement. Ornamentation is derived through nature, fabric, and personal decor; alternatively I utilize various tools to alter the final results.
